Students will do the following in my class:

Journal- Status is defined as the standing a person has in a group to which he or she belongs.  What role does status play here at BHS?  How do you get status here at BHS?  How can you tell a person has status?  What are some benefits of having status?  What are some harmful effects about status.
Write for five minutes and then share with a shoulder partner then after that is done, share with your group.  You will randomly be called on to share with class.

Reading-Read "The Necklace" p. 26-34 with Rally Reading

Rally Reading is reading for 3 mins and then randomly asking someone a question about content and then praising them when then get it right or coaching them up when they do not. Everyone is expected to read and to answer questions while reading the story. 

Complete questions 1-8 on page 35  All students are to participate.  Alternate writers for every question.  One paper is sufficient. 

Situational Irony-Where one thing is expected and the exact opposite happens.  Is there situational irony in this story?  Why or why not?  Each group member will be asked to answer. 

Themes- choose one of the themes below and defend it with factual information from the text
Objects have power

Acting like you have nothing is dangerous

Appearances have deceptions
