Principal's Update 5/17/2020Good evening, Chieftain Nation
I wanted to start with a big congratulations to the Class of 2020 who completed their Commencement Walks on Friday. It was so awesome to see all of you and your families on stage! A huge thank you , as well, to everyone who helped put on our Commencement on Friday. Man, what an effort, but I could not say a greater thanks to all staff who read names, manned stations, and welcomed families in this event. We could not have done it without each and every one of you. Blessed day to be a part of Chieftain Nation! Special thanks to those that helped plan the event:
Matt Comstock who tirelessly organized all the stations and clocked 15 miles of walking on the fit bit on Friday, Cliff Core who organized the student sign-in and who has lost his hearing from manning the bell all day 🙂, Doug Walters who made our masks, planned and manned the safety coordination, and couldn't feel his feet by the end, Laurie Showalter for her usual amazing behind-the-scenes coordination of the program, awards, and major lists and coordinating the day of the event, Angie Haver for planning and for some late night Top 10 calculation and working the final student lists and manning stations, to Shalie Logan for developing student final lists and manning stations, Becky O'Rielley for working the final student list, putting together an amazing Local Scholarship presentation and manning stations, Shanel Henry for planning and working the stage door, Brad Hall for planning, Angie Horvath for planning and manning the DLC all day, Kristy Mount for planning, Senior Mailbox and manning the DLC, Sarah High for decorating the hall and working the NHS table all day, Marcia Cooper and Melanie Lehman for the endless hours of planning and manning the wardrobe table all day, Roxanne Sprouse, Tonja Braun, and Barb Triplett for all planning and taking pieces of the organization, Molli Jackson for planning and manning stations all day, Jean Minnick for planning, decorating the hall, and manning stations, Aaron Gregor and Chris Miller for their video and camera work and putting together the senior video, Mary Smith for decorating the hall and manning stations, and to all BCS, BHS, and OHP staff who read names and manned stations. Finally, a special thank you to Krista Belser who coordinates our Facebook page and the massive amount of information that needs to be distributed, especially in our remote learning time.

Also, a thank you to our Board of Education for their constant support, Mayor Stahler and city officials for their guidance, Dr. Hoddinott for his guidance and approval, our local scholarship donors who gave almost $270,000 in local scholarships to our class of 2020, BPD for serving and protecting that day, Wren's florist for their donations and decorations, and Blue Skies HD for their incredible video work. Blue Skies HD (recommended by Colin Yoder) is on the council of the Governor and Ohio Department of Education for virtual graduations. They have been planning and filming over 20 graduations of this type. They had high praise for the staff and the Bellefontaine community, and were very impressed with the Chieftain Spirit and Chieftain Pride in Bellefontaine City Schools. You have made the day and the year for a lot of families and graduates of 2020. In spite of the disappointments of this spring, Commecement was a unique and personal experience that will be remembered for a long time. The digital download is free to everyone and will air Friday, May 22nd at 7 pm on our BCS Facebook Page and our BHS YouTube Channel. Local Scholarship Recognition and Senior Video will also be aired right after the graduation package. Thank you also to Aaron Gregor who runs our Tube channel. Congratulations, Chieftain Nation!
