Local Scholarships with Their Own Application

THE FOLLOWING SCHOLARSHIPS USE THEIR OWN APPLICATION:  Please click on the link for each scholarship to access their application.  Applications will be linked as they become available.

 

1.     40 & 8 NURSING SCHOLARSHIPS.  These scholarships are given to students for their first year in college and are for nursing majors only.  This is a county wide scholarship available to all Logan County schools.  Deadline:  April 15.

 

2.     AMERICAN LEGION/HAROLD KERR POST #173 SCHOLARSHIPS.  These scholarships will be awarded to assist students in their freshman year in college.  They will be awarded by a committee of the American Legion.  Deadline: April 15.

 

3.     AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY/HAROLD KERR UNIT #173 SCHOLARSHIPS.  These $500 scholarships that vary in amounts will be awarded to Logan County students who are children or grandchildren of a veteran who served in World War I or II, Korean Conflict, or in the Vietnam Era, Grenada, or Desert Storm. Students must be in actual need of help to continue their education.  Deadline:  April 15.

 

4.     ASHCRAFT/BROWN SCHOLARSHIPS.  One $500 scholarship will be awarded to a student who has been accepted to either a two or four-year College, technical school, or vocational school.  The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of leadership, financial need, character, and scholastic ability.  Deadline: First Monday in March.

 

5.      BCYSA TAMMY ELKINS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP.  This is a $500 scholarship in memory of Tammy Elkins awarded by the Bellefontaine City Youth Soccer Association.  Applicants must have played at least four seasons in the BCYSA league and be a BHS Senior attending a two- or four- year college or university in the fall.  Deadline: March 29.

 

6.     BELLEFONTAINE LIONS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP.  This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior to assist in their first year of a two or four year institution.  It is required to attach a statement about yourself, your educational goals, activities, awards and honors.  Consideration may be given to applicants with Lions Club affiliation.  Applications should be turned into the Guidance Office.  Deadline: March 30

 

7.     BELLEFONTAINE PROFESSIONAL FIREFIGHTERS ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP. The amount of this scholarship shall be $500 and will be paid at the completion of the first quarter/semester of school.  This scholarship is awarded to high school or GED graduating students of the same year or one year prior to application date. Preference will be given to anyone entering the public safety or health & medical fields. This scholarship is available to Logan County residents only. Scholarships will be awarded based upon scholastic merit, economic need, and goals in life. Deadline: Before 5:00pm on April 15.

 

8.     BELLEFONTAINE ROTARY CLUB SCHOLARSHIP.  This scholarship is valued at $1,000 and are available to graduating seniors who are residents of Logan County. Applicants must have a 3.5 GPA or higher.  Selection will be based on merit, community service, and extracurricular activities by a committee of the Rotary Club. 9.     BELLEFONTAINE USBC BOWLING ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP.  A $1,000 award is given to a student for study at either a two- or four-year school.  Applicants may qualify one of two ways:  1. Must have an immediate family member belonging to the Bellefontaine USBC Bowling Association (parent, grandparent, brother, or sister); 2. Must be a member of a local high school bowling team and have completed at least one full season.   Deadline:  First Monday in April.

 

10.  TIFFANY BROWN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP. This $500 scholarship is in memory of Logan County resident, Tiffany Brown, who tragically lost her life in 2011.  It will be awarded to a student who has been accepted to either a two or four-year college, technical school, or vocational school.  The scholarship will be based on leadership, financial need, character and scholastic ability.  Deadline: First Monday in March.

 

11.  FRATERNALORDER OF POLICE HI-POINT LODGE #60 SCHOLARSHIP.  These scholarships will be awarded by the FOP Lodge #60.  This is to assist students in the first year of either a two or four-year school, and some preference is given to those planning to enter a law enforcement, community, or social service field.  A photo must be attached to this application.  These scholarships will be awarded by a special committee of the FOP.  Scholarship monies must be utilized/cashed by the end of the first year of college after graduating high school.  Deadline: April 12.

 

12.  THOMAS P. HENNESSY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP.  A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a Logan County student who plans to attend The Ohio State University or any of its branches and/or has been a member of FFA, FCCLA or 4-H.  Preference will be given to students with a GPA of 2.75 in all high school classes.  This scholarship was established in memory of Tom Hennessy, who was killed in a 1999 automobile accident, and was very successful in the agriculture business.  Applications must be returned to the OSU Extension office by deadline.  1100 S. Detroit St., Bellefontaine.  Deadline:  April 1.

 

13.  ZACHARIAH W. KELLER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP.  This is a $1,000 scholarship in memory of 2006 Bellefontaine High School graduate, Zack Keller.  GPA and financial need will be considered.  A brief statement about you, your goals for the future, and how this scholarship will help you achieve your goals is required.  Special consideration will be made to members of the BHS Bowling Team.  Deadline: April 11.

 

14.  KIWANIS CLUB OF BELLEFONTAINE SCHOLARSHIPS.  This scholarship is valued between $500-$1,000 and is awarded to aid a student during the freshman year in a two-year technical school or a four-year college. Awarded by a committee of the Kiwanis Club.  Deadline:  March 22.

 

15.  LOGAN COUNTY 4-H COMMITTEE SCHOLARSHIP.  Two scholarships valued at $500 each for students who are currently members of the Logan County 4-H and have completed their projects for the current year will be awarded.  The students must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher and be enrolled in a two or four year undergraduate college program or technical college program for the academic year.  Deadline:  April 1.

 

16.  LOGAN COUNTY DAIRY SCHOLARSHIP. Two $500 scholarships awarded by the Logan County Dairy Association and will be paid to the recipient in August of the award year with proof of acceptance to college or trade school. Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: anyone involved in a dairy operation, anyone working on a farm, or anyone that works with marketing of dairy products. Applications are available in the guidance office. Deadline: March 3.

17.      LOGAN COUNTY ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE CHILDREN OF MEMBERS SCHOLARSHIP.  Applicants for this scholarship, with varying values, must be a son, daughter or legal ward of a permanent residential cooperative member.  It is required students have a 3.5 GPA or better and be enrolled in an accredited college or proper technical school of student’s choice.  Members of the immediate families and persons residing in the households of trustees, managers, distribution cooperative employees are not eligible to participate in the competition.  Deadline: March 8.

 

18.   LOGAN COUNTY FARM BUREAU SCHOLARSHIPS.  These scholarships are valued at $250 or $750 and will be given to students entering college in any major in the fall. The number of scholarships will depend on the number of qualified applicants.  The parent/guardian must be a current member of the Logan County Farm Bureau. This application must be typed.  This scholarship is based on scholastic achievement, extracurricular activities, and a personal interview.  Deadline: March 15.

 

19.  LOGAN COUNTY RETIRED TEACHERS ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP.  This scholarship is valued at $1,000 and will be awarded to a senior attending Indian Lake, Riverside, Bellefontaine, Benjamin Logan, or West Liberty-Salem High School.  Applicants must plan to attend a college or university and major in education.   Deadline: March 15.

 

20.  MAD RIVER VALLEY DULCIMER SOCIETY.  This scholarship is worth $500 and will be awarded to a Logan County graduating senior who intends to major in instrumental music or instrumental music education.  Special consideration will be given to those with strong participation in band, orchestra or piano.  Applicants are required to include a short essay describing their high school music participation.  Deadline: March 31.

 

21.  MARY RUTAN FOUNDATION MEDICAL CAREERS SCHOLARSHIPS. These scholarships ranging from $500-$1,000 are for Logan County residents and students who have been officially accepted into a medical career program (i.e. medicine, nursing, pharmacy, allied medical). Please note: Applicants enrolled in PRE-programs (pre-medicine, pre-nursing, or pre-allied medicine) do NOT qualify. Scholarship recipient selections will be made in late May.  Deadline:  April 5.

 

22.  KRISTA MCDONALD MEMORIALSCHOLARSHIP.  This $500 scholarship is awarded by the Fraternal Order of Police Hi Point Lodge 60 in memory of Krista McDonald who was tragically killed on October 14, 2017 when the ambulance she was driving was struck by another vehicle that failed to stop at a stop sign.  This scholarship will be awarded to a student with a 3.0 GPA or higher seeking further education to pursue a career in criminal justice or public safety.  A 300 word essay and a wallet size photo need to be included.  Deadline: April 12.

 

23.  JAMESFORSYTHE MILROY FOUNDATION LOANS. This $2,500 non-renewable scholarship is available to students in Logan County, Ohio, desirous of serving advanced agricultural education or an agriculturally- related (such as Environmental Studies, Applied Nutrition, etc.) field in any Ohio educational institution.  Deadline: April 1. 

 

24.  MARY ELEANOR MORRIS/COLUMBUS FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS. These scholarships, which are for $1,000 and are renewable for four years (a certain GPA must be maintained), are awarded to five students from Logan County each year.  Students who are recipients of the Ohio Academic Scholarship, sponsored by the Ohio Board of regents will not be eligible for the MEM scholarship.  Also, recipients of National Merit Scholarships of $4,000 or more will not be eligible.  Awarded by a special countywide committee.  Deadline:  March 1.

 

25.  SUSIEPARKER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP.  At least one $500 (minimum) scholarship will be awarded to a BHS graduating senior who has at least a 3.0 GPA and who has been accepted to an accredited four-year college or university in Ohio. The scholarship must be used for tuition only. These scholarships will be awarded by the Logan County District Library Board of Trustees. 26.  GUNNERYSERGEANT DAVID S. SPICER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP. Gunnery Spicer was a proud Marine who loved his country and his family. On July 13, 2009, Gunnery Spicer was killed in action fighting in Afghanistan. This scholarship is valued at $1,000 and will be awarded to a Logan County graduating senior. Applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA.  All students are encouraged to apply as well as those attending a college through an ROTC Program.  Deadline: April 5.

 

27.  PHIL STEPHENS BELLEFONTAINE MOOSE #2563 & CHAPTER #2228 SCHOLARSHIP.  Two scholarships valued at $500 each.  Applicants need NOT have any affiliation with the Moose to apply.  All youth graduating in 2018 are welcome to submit an application regardless of whether or not you have a family member who is a current member of any Moose club.  The applicant must be graduating in the high school class of 2018 and must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.  A brief essay about yourself and your goals needs to be attached.  Deadline: April 15.

 

28.  STOLLYINSURANCE GROUP “SUCCEED” SCHOLARSHIPStolly Insurance group is offering two $1,000 scholarships for the 2018-2019 school year.  Any student graduating high school in 2019 who is a primary resident of Ohio and will enroll in post-secondary education for the 2019-2020 school year is eligible to apply.  The committee will take into consideration current grades, extracurricular activities, leadership, work ethic, application, essay, and applicant’s commitment to continued education.  Deadline: March 1.

 

29.  V.F.W. POST #1080 SCHOLARSHIP. This $500 scholarship will be awarded on the basis of leadership, financial need, character, and scholastic ability. Applicants must have been accepted to a two- or four-year college, technical school, or a vocational school.  Deadline:  First Monday in March.

 

           30.  V.F.W.POST #1080 MEN’S AUXILIARY SCHOLARSHIP.  This $500 will be awarded to a student who will be enrolled in either a two or four-year college, technical school, or vocational school.  The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of leadership, financial need, character, and scholastic ability.  Deadline:  First Monday in March.

31.     WEST LIBERTY FORCE FASTPITCH ORGANIZATION SCHOLARSHIPS.  These scholarships will be awarded to current or former players of West Liberty Force Fastpitch softball.  Applicants must be in their senior year of high school and are in actual need of financial help to continue their education.  Deadline: April 15.
