Students will do the following in my class: Journal- Status is defined as the standing a person has in a group to which he or she belongs.  What role does status play here at BHS?  How do you get status here at BHS?  How can you tell a person has status?  What are some benefits of having status?  What are some harmful effects about status. Write for five minutes and then share with a shoulder partner then after that is done, share with your group.  You will randomly be called on to share with class. Reading-Read "The Necklace" p. 26-34 with Rally Reading Rally Reading is reading for 3 mins and then randomly asking someone a question about content and then praising them when then get it right or coaching them up when they do not. Get into pods of 4 Journal- Today is National Chocolate Cupcake Day.  What is the best cupcake or dessert.  Be sure to explain you claim. Vocabulary-Talk about the words within your pod and share sentences.  I will be around to check to make sure you have your sentences completed. Cornell Notes within your pod on the Becoming an Active Reader p.6-7 and p.23-25 in Literature Books.

Students will do the following today: Get into their essay groups and continue cranking out final copies of essays.  BE SURE TO RUN IT THROUGH THE CHECKLIST BEFORE YOU TURN IT IN TO ME. In your group, read "The 10 Skills Employers Want In 20-Something Employees" and "Why should we hire you? What to say in your interview."   After reading these together, pick out the most important details and outline them/summarize them on one sheet of paper. Pick up your "You Should Hire Me"  Outline paper and begin developing the three main reasons as to why you are a good hire.  Be sure to also have evidence to back up each attribute.   ?

Today is "Positive Thinking Day."  Describe a time when positive thinking helped you in a tough situation.  What happened and who was involved? Explain it all in great detail. Vocab-Check sentences Vocab 3 1)  adulation- (n) excessively admiring behavior 2)  askew- (adj adv) crooked or out of line 3)  gamut- (Noun) entire range or scale. 4) privation- (Noun) the state of deprivation 5)  ruinous- (Adj) causing or tending to be ruined 6)  vexation-(N)- a cause of annoyance. 7)  affable- (adj) pleasant 8) solicitously- (Adv) cautiously or carefully done 9)  uncanny- (Adj) superhuman, supernatural, beyond what is accepted as normal 10) zealous- (Adj) filled with or motivated by an object or passionate Back into groups to write TEAM SCA1 Essays 1) Everyone must have a writing part (alternate writers) 2) Be sure to plan your writing out and to match your blue print 3) Counter claim and rebuttal need to be present (where are you doing yours) 4) Do you have evidence to back up each supporting detail? 5) Cite all sources whether it's paraphrased or not  (quotations and parenthetical citations) 6) Be sure to restate your main points in your closing (restate your blue print)
