Devon Lyburtus

A 1996 graduate, Lyburtus was one of the most electrifying athletes in Chieftain history.
As a star running back on the gridiron, Lyburtus holds the school's career rushing record with 5,597 yards.  He scored a school-record six touchdowns against Greenon during the 1995 season and ended his career with 66 touchdowns.  He was a first team all-Ohio selection as a Senior when he ran for 2,327 yards and 26 touchdowns.
Lyburtus helped lead the 1995 team to a 9-2 record and BHS's first berth in the state football playoffs.
He enjoyed tremendous success on the track as well.  He was a member of two state qualifying relay teams as a Senior, running anchor for the 1600 and 3200 relay teams.  He helped the 3200 relay team place fourth in the State meet in a school record time of 7:53.64
Upon graduating from BHS, Lyburtus went on to the University of Toledo and Allen Hancock Community College in California.
His football career did not end after college as he played on several semi-pro teams.
